Item Preparation

General Pointers

  • We are asking that each consignor bring in a minimum of 15 items and no more than a maximum of 300 items (please see below for clothing and shoe limits)
  • Please check the following website to be sure that none of your items are included in a recall http://www.cpsc.gov/en/recalls/
  • All clothing and linens (especially those infant items coming out of plastic tubs) should be freshly laundered to insure that all odors are removed
  • Items not on hangers (toys, play equipment, etc.) should have their tags securely taped on with clear packing tape
  • All battery operated toys and equipment should have working batteries in them
  • Large items that require assembly (furniture, larger toys) should have the instructions included
  • All items marked “YES” in the DONATE field should be highlighted in yellow highlighter
  • ABSOLUTELY no information on any tags should be crossed out and/or changed! Any item with a tag with information crossed and/or changed will NOT be accepted! This includes all fields.
  • Please pay close attention to the category selection as the categories will drive the taxable versus non-taxable status on items sold. Any items not entered in to the appropriate category can NOT be accepted.

Hanging Clothing

  • Remember clothing on hangers is limited to 100 hangers. Hangers containing multiple items with one tag will count as one item. Please limit items on one hanger to 4 maximum and please make sure all items are of the same size. (Dancewear and costumes DO NOT count as a clothing item)
  • Our tagging system will not automatically stop you at 100 clothing items. Please keep a record of your items as you are entering them.
  • If you are consigning infant clothing in any sizes between 0 and 12 months (to include 0-3 months, 3 months, 3-6 months, 0-6 months, 6 months, 6-9 months, 9 months, 0-12 months, and 12 months), please note we will be limiting the number of hangers you may bring in those sizes only to 20 HANGERS PER GENDER.
  • Please make sure all items are clean and not wrinkled, faded or outdated and have no holes, missing buttons or broken zippers
  • The use of wire hangers is preferred
  • Clothing should be hung so that the front of the item is facing you and the hanger forms the number “2” or a “?”
  • All clothing must be hung on hangers and secured with safety pins to the top of the hangers (if needed to insure the item will not slide off the hanger)
  • Two-piece outfits should be pinned together on one hanger. For instance, the shirt may be hung on the hanger and the pants pinned to the back of it through the shirt and around the wire hanger.
  • Pants should be pinned from the waistband to the top of the hanger. Please DO NOT fold pants over the hanger or pin them to the bottom of the hanger. Please visit the Tagging Examples page for pictures of how pants should look on the hanger.
  • Tags on clothes should be safety pinned to the upper right front of clothes (as you are looking at clothing)
  • Secure tags on clothing with one medium size safety pin
  • Any multi-piece hangers should hold items of all the same size (please do not mix sizes)

Non-Hanging Clothing

  • The only clothing items that will be accepted in plastic baggies instead of on hangers are undershirts, belts, socks, tights, bibs, hats, gloves, scarves and hair accessories
  • These small items should be grouped together by size and placed in a zip lock bag with the tag inside
  • The 20 piece limit for infant sizes does not apply to the items accepted in a baggie. Please do NOT place items that belong on a hanger in a baggie to skirt the hanger item limits or those items will be removed from the sales floor

Shoes

  • We will accept 7 pairs of shoes per consignor (Rollerblades, roller skates, cleats and slippers DO NOT count as shoes)
  • Shoes should be connected together with a large safety pin or zip tie (do not place them in a box or in zip lock bags)
  • Tags should be connected to the top of the shoes with a safety pin or zip tie (NOT with tape to the bottom of the shoes)

Bedding, Sheets, Blankets, Towels and Linens

  • We will only accept these items if they are kid-sized or kid-themed
  • All linens should be clean and free from stains or tears
  • Items may be placed in a large plastic bag or baggie or bundled with ribbon or string
  • Tags should be connected to the linens with a safety pin
  • We do NOT accept crib bedding sets, crib bumper pads, bedding sets, multi-layered blankets or bedspreads or sleeping bags

Baby Equipment

  • ANY BABY EQUIPMENT THAT IS PART OF A RECALL MAY NOT BE SOLD. It is the consignor’s responsibility to look each item up to insure it is not part of a recall.
  • All baby equipment must be cleaned up
  • Car seats need to have the original manufacturer sticker attached with the date clearly readable. We will NOT accept car seats that are older than 4 years. Please go to www.carseat.org to ensure your car seat in NOT on the recall list.
  • Tags should be pinned or taped on to these items
  • These items must be assembled by the consignor at drop-off

Large Toys and Ride-on Toys

  • Large toys and ride-on toys should be scrubbed clean (a Mr. Clean eraser works great)
  • If these items include smaller pieces (like a kitchen with dishes and food), the small items should be placed in a clear plastic bag and secured to the larger item either with tape or with zip ties
  • Tags should be pinned or taped on to these items
  • These items must be assembled by the consignor at drop-off

Toys

  • All toys should be scrubbed clean (a Mr. Clean eraser works great)
  • Any toys requiring batteries to operate must have working batteries in them (batteries from a dollar store are just fine)
  • If these items include smaller pieces (like a playhouse with people), the small items should be placed in a clear plastic bag and secured to the larger item either with tape or with zip ties
  • Tags should be pinned or taped on to these items

Puzzles and Games

  • All games and puzzles MUST have all pieces included
  • Puzzles and games MUST be taped shut or placed in a zip lock bag so pieces are not lost
  • Loose pieces to games and toys should be placed in a zip lock bag and securely attached to the item, so they do not get separated and lost
  • Board puzzles are best placed in a large clear plastic baggie or wrapped in plastic wrap to keep all pieces together
  • Painters tape also works well for keeping these items together or attaching the tags (masking tape, scotch tape and packing tape are not recommended as they often damage the items when removed)
  • All video game discs or cartridges should be placed in a clear plastic bag

Books

  • All books must have all pages intact
  • All coloring, sticker or activity books must be inspected to insure the pages are not used
  • Books are best grouped by genre or reading level and placed in a clear zip lock baggie. Please do not rubber band or tie the books together as they can become easily separated on the sales floor.

DVDs and CDs

  • All DVDs and CDs need to be in their original cases with the tags taped to the back
  • Please ensure that DVDs and CDs are free from scratches that affect their play
  • If “bundling” DVDs and CDs, place in a zip lock bag with the tag placed inside
  • We do not accept VCR tapes

Authentic Ladies Designer Handbags and Purses

  • All handbags and purses must be authentic, knock-offs cannot be accepted
  • Please enclose all proof of authenticity that you can inside the bag (ie hang tag, price tag, certificate of authenticity)
  • Tags should be connected to the bag with a large safety pin or zip tie
